Hawai‘i P-20 coordinates the statewide College Application and Exploration Season (CAES) to encourage students to participate in a series of activities that prepare them for college and career.
The highlight of the CAES season is for high schools to host college application events to encourage students to complete a college application prior to high school graduation. The number of participating schools has doubled since the CAES project was piloted in SY2012–13. In SY2019–20, over 3,200 seniors from 28 high schools participated in an application event.
Using National Student Clearinghouse (NSC) data, CAES participants were tracked from the Classes of 2013–2018 into college and found that their enrollment rates were consistently higher than both school and statewide averages.
COVID-19
This year, due to COVID-19, Hawai‘i P-20 will be hosting virtual college application events in October and November. These will be informational sessions that will walk students through the application process and answer any questions they may have about the various University of Hawai‘i campuses.
